Shadow and Light

This is a conceptual design exploring the idea of a shadow self. Another identity given form through this knit form. After Reading Haruki Murakami I began thinking about a project that explored some of the themes in his writing.

Ficus benghalensis

"Ficus benghalensis, the banyan, is a large and extensive growing tree of the Indian subcontinent. Ficus benghalensis produces propagating roots which grow downwards as aerial roots. Once these roots reach the ground, they grow into woody trunks that can become indistinguishable from the main trunk."

The Banyan Tree holds a special place in Hawaiian culture and, because I was born and raised on Oahu, a special place for me. This project takes it's inspiration from the Banyan Tree and it's unique root propagation. This is also my first photo shoot as photographer and producer....
